Costs consultancies merge to create Burcher Jennings

Law firm pricing consultancy, Validatum and costs drafting firm, Jennings Costs, have merged.

The new company, called Burcher Jennings, will be chaired by Richard Burcher, the founder of Validatum, with Martyn Jennings, the ownder of Jennings Costs, becoming the company’s chief executive.

Both Professor Dominic Regan, the costs expert and special adviser to Lord Justice Jackson, and Professor Stephen Mayson, the internationally acclaimed legal commentator, have been appointed to the company’s advisory board.

The company’s founders say that the merger has taken place in response to law firms’ urgent need for greater pricing skills across contentious and non-contentious work following the pressure on profit margins following the Jackson reforms.

Professor Regan said that what the company offered was exactly what judges wanted to see – pricing maturity and discipline.

Burcher said that the new company would offer lawyers everything they needed when it came to costs analysis.
