Rehabilitation provider HCML has created two new positions as it looks to increase its clinical capabilities.
Dr Arup Paul, a senior partner in a Tower Hamlets GP practice, becomes the company’s first Medical Director, while Mark Thomas, an extended scope practitioner, has been named as the company’s first Rehabilitation Consultant.
Dr Paul is a member of the primary care transformation board for NHS England and has held the positions of Clinical Lead for both Quality and Integrated Care at Tower Hamlets’ Clinical Commissioning Group.
His role at HCML will be to oversee the company’s clinical governance infrastructure and contribute to the development of innovative service design.
Thomas will be charged with providing appropriate advice and guidance to HCML’s case managers who work with injured people to ascertain whether they may require further intervention, including hospital consultant reviews.
“I’m excited by the opportunity to work with an organisation where quality, clinical excellence and continuous improvement are cornerstones,” said Dr Paul. “I’m looking forwards to help the team develop and implement original ideas and systems.”
Keith Bushnell, HCML’s chief executive officer, said: ‘Both are senior medical professionals. They bring extensive experience in private practice and the NHS to HCML and we are very happy to have them on board.
“They will bring us the sort of new thinking and approaches we see as essential to bolster our clinical credentials and our plans for expansion.”
