Markel hires Amy Martin as Senior Claims Adjuster for Warranty & Indemnity

Markel Insurance, the insurance operation within Markel Group Inc. (NYSE:MKL), announced the appointment of Amy Martin as Senior Claims Adjuster – Warranty & Indemnity (W&I), within Markel International, the division responsible for the insurer’s international operations.

In her new position, Martin will be responsible for handling complex, high-value claims across Markel International’s Transactional Liability class, including W&I, contingent risk and tax. Working closely with the organisation’s Underwriting, Actuarial and Reinsurance teams, as well as managing agents, coverholders and service partners across multiple jurisdictions, Martin will play a key role in further strengthening Markel International’s coordinated, insight-led claims service – ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of brokers and clients operating in increasingly complex deal environments.

Martin’s role will also be central to strengthening Markel’s Claims Value Proposition – delivering clear, consistent and commercially focused outcomes that support clients and brokers throughout the lifecycle of a claim wherever they are in the world. Drawing on insights from claims experience, she’ll help inform contract wordings, coverage development and renewal strategy, while enhancing transparency and responsiveness throughout the claims process. Through close engagement with brokers and partners, Martin will help drive consistency, clarity and confidence in claims handling to continue delivering a highquality, value-added service for broker partners and clients.

Based in London, Martin will report directly to Rachel Nestor, Claims Manager – Management and Transactional Liability, Cyber and Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) at Markel International.

Jonathan Pestell, Head of Claims for Professional & Financial Risks & Cyber at Markel International, commented: “As transactional risk becomes more complex and interconnected, clients and brokers increasingly look for clarity, consistency and expertise in the claims process. Amy’s strong legal background and hands-on experience across complex financial lines claims will enable us to deliver exactly that.

“Her ability to interpret coverage, challenge assumptions and work collaboratively with teams will further enhance the service and support we provide to brokers and clients.”

Martin brings over a decade of experience across insurance claims and legal advisory roles, spanning both private practice and in-house positions. Most recently a senior claims adjuster at Chubb, she handled complex UK and international professional indemnity claims. As a qualified solicitor, Martin has extensive experience managing multi-jurisdictional claims across primary and excess layers and has built strong relationships within the London Market.
