Leading QC launches new claims social networking site

Bill Braithwaite QC has launched a new social networking site for the claims management sector called Mootis.

Braithwaite, who is the head of Exchange Chambers, has launched the site with the aim of streamlining the claims management sector’s use of social media. It is aimed at organisations and individuals across the legal services, claims management and associated industries.

“Sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Facebook are hugely successful, but we feel the claims management sector is large enough to warrant its own, bespoke platform,” he said.

“So many claims professionals – at all levels – understand the need to engage with social media but are not entirely comfortable with the general nature of what is out there at the moment.”

Braithwaite said that Mootis will appeal to both those who are already registered with sites such as Twitter and LinkedIn – and those who are yet to engage with social media.

“It’s got dual appeal,” said Braithwaite. “We believe existing social media users will welcome the benefits of a site focused entirely on legal services.

“For the thousands of claims management professionals yet to engage with social media this is their chance to get in at the beginning of something new and exciting. It’s a brand new platform, a level playing field.”

Mootis, which operates along the same lines as Twitter, allows users to log in through Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook and post ‘Moots’ of up to 500 words.

“Although we are launching the site now the first few months are all about gathering feedback so we can make Mootis as effective as possible moving forward,” added Braithwaite.
