MedCo, the whiplash medical report portal, has gone live.
From 6 April, medical experts, agencies and commissioners of medical reports are all required to register on MedCo’s website in order to continue to provide or commission reports. MedCo has been brought in under the Ministry of Justices’ (MoJ) Pre-Action Protocol for Low Value Personal Injury Claims in Road Traffic Accidents.
Medical Experts will be required to pay a £150 annual registration fee, medical reporting agencies have been split into two categories. The first will pay a £15,000 registration fee, while the second, larger agencies, will pay £75,000.
MedCo has warned that it could take users between 5-10 days for registrations and payments to be processed.
“We would encourage users to sign up at their earliest opportunity to minimise any internal disruption to their service whilst we process their registration,” said Lorraine Rogerson, MedCo board independent chair.
“We are also encouraging users to familiarise themselves with the entry criteria in advance to ensure registrations are approved first time round.”
