A host of companies and professionals were recognised as the insurance claims sector’s best and brightest at the virtual British Claims Awards 2020 last night.
Markel UK, Sedgwick and Allianz UK were among the winners announced during the virtual ceremony on claimsmag.co.uk, where the sector celebrated the successes of the past 12 months and its dedication to delivering the claims service in these difficult times.
Markel UK took home Outstanding Services to the Policyholder for acting quickly, passionately and effectively when Covid-19 struck, to service a particular set of policyholders that faced significant disruption as a result of the pandemic.
A combination of innovation and training powered an effective response to an escalating crisis, according to the independent panel of judges responsible for judging entries. They described Markel UK as “a deserved winner”.
Sedgwick and Allianz UK won the Major Loss Award for working closely to deal with an issue, using education and training as tools to achieve their aim.
The partnership stood out “as an excellent example of collaboration and the partners are worthy winners of this award”.
Of the individuals to be recognised at this year’s British Claims Awards, Lia Konstantopoulou of Travelers won the Rising Star Award.
Konstantopoulou was “head and shoulders” above the other finalists, according to the judges. They described Konstantopoulou as “a superb professional who has it all and who contributes much within and outside of the insurance sector”.
In her speech during the virtual British Claims Awards, Julia Graham, deputy chief executive officer and technical director at Airmic, and chair of the independent judging panel, described the claims service as “the heart” of insurance and said its stakeholders will “play a key role in the predict and prevent business model”.
Graham continued: “These awards are about organisations and people who ‘get it right’ and going that extra mile to embrace new technology, manage the changing demands of the industry, and deliver great customer-centric claims solutions and service.”
While individuals and businesses continue to adapt to the new normal, and as policyholders consider their current and future needs, find out what the independent judging panel had to say about each and every winner at this year’s British Claims Awards.
