Specialty MGA UK makes new senior underwriting appointment

Specialty MGA UK, a managing general agent focused on providing additional capacity for hard-to-place risks, has enhanced its expertise and global reach with the hire of Jonathan Wingett as senior underwriter for agriculture.

Wingett is a well-respected reinsurance underwriter and broker with over 40 years of experience in the industry, spending large parts of his career in Asia including Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. He established an agriculture practice with ACR (Asia Capital Reinsurance), forming the Asia Agriculture Pool. This is used to write agriculture reinsurance from across the globe.

Wingett has also worked in Kuwait for the country’s first licensed retakaful company, Al Fajer Re, and in Cyprus for Alliance Re, managing their underwriting operations on the non-marine treaty account. He brings deep expertise in writing risks for agricultural clients globally, ranging from small growers to international corporations.

In his new role at Specialty MGA UK, Wingett is responsible for underwriting the agricultural portfolio, consisting of proportional and non-proportional treaties covering crop and livestock.
