Devonshire Underwriting expands contingent risk insurance team with key hire

Devonshire Underwriting has named Robin Muir as its new head of contingent risks. His arrival strengthens the firm’s expertise in transactional risk solutions and corporate restructuring.

Muir comes from law firm Jones Day, where he worked for over seven years as an associate, specialising in restructuring and litigation. His experience will help Devonshire grow its contingent risk insurance product.

This appointment reflects the fast growth of the start-up, which now has ten specialists focused on expanding its offerings. Muir will help develop contingent risk insurance products and work closely with clients.

James Dodd, partner at Devonshire Underwriting, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Robin to the team. Appointing a dedicated Head of Contingent Risks will enable us to better serve our clients, streamline response times, and deliver tailored quotes more efficiently.

Muir is excited about his new role: “During my time in private practice, I often wondered why insurance products weren’t deployed to address contingent risks commonly emerging from restructuring situations.

“Seeing contingent risk insurance evolve to fill this gap will be a game-changer, and Devonshire is at the forefront of this innovation. I’m confident underwriters will welcome the product’s evolution in this space.”

Dodd added, “Robin’s extensive experience in restructuring positions us perfectly to adapt to the rapidly evolving landscape of contingent risk insurance.”
