Allianz UK surpasses £500k in grassroots sport donations

As part of its ongoing commitment to investing in local sports clubs and communities, Allianz UK has now donated more than half a million pounds to grassroots sport through its two funding programmes – the Allianz Sports Fund and the Allianz Future Fund.

The Allianz Future Fund, launched in summer 2024, is designed to make rugby more accessible and help young players reach their potential. So far, the initiative has awarded 87 grants to grassroots rugby clubs across the UK, providing a total of £100,000 in funding.

Alistair Body, U11 coach and community liaison officer at Stockwood Park Rugby Football Club, said,“At Stockwood Park, we believe sport is a powerful tool for bringing communities together and creating equal opportunities for all. As a community rugby club, we are committed to providing access to sport for young people, helping them develop confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging. We are incredibly grateful to Allianz UK for their generous £3,000 grant, which will support our efforts to make rugby accessible to everyone, breaking down barriers and ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the chance to thrive.”

Since its launch in 2021, the Allianz Sports Fund has awarded £420,000 to a wide range of local sports clubs across the UK – from wheelchair basketball to diving. The programme enables Allianz broker partners to nominate a local sport club or team that takes part in an Olympic or Paralympic sport for a donation between £500 and £3,000.

To date, £340,000 has been awarded to broker-nominated clubs, with an additional £80,000 distributed to employee-nominated clubs during a special initiative to celebrate Allianz’s partnership with the Olympics and Paralympics.

Carolyn Rich, director of brand at Allianz UK, commented, “We’re thrilled to be able to support so many amazing local sports clubs across the UK who are dedicated to making a difference in their local communities. As the Worldwide Insurance Partner for the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, we are passionate about the power of sport and the important role that it plays within communities. We’re looking forward to working with our broker partners to support even more clubs throughout 2025.”
