Nexus Underwriting (‘Nexus’), an Arrowhead Intermediaries company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Walid Youssef as unit head of UK Financial Institutions. Reporting to Joanne Edgley, UK head of Financial Lines, Youssef will be responsible for managing Nexus’s UK Financial Institutions portfolio and driving the line’s strategy. His appointment reflects Nexus’s ongoing investment in specialist talent as the firm continues to grow.
Youssef joins Nexus from Lockton, where he was Senior Vice President within the global Financial Institutions team. Prior to this role, he was head of Financial Institutions at Travelers Europe and Vice President at Marsh.
Edgley commented: “We are delighted to welcome Walid to our Financial Institutions team, which has been a core pillar for Nexus since our founding. His leadership will be integral to the growth in this area, where we are widely seen as the preferred market for both financial institution brokers and policyholders.”
Youssef’s appointment brings further specialisation to an already highly regarded team and follows three other recent underwriting appointments in this division. Sam Meehan serves as Head of Underwriting Development, based in Dublin, and has more than 15 years of experience in insurance with financial institution underwriting roles at Travelers Europe and Chubb. Scott Walker joined as Senior Underwriter with 25 years of experience in financial institutions insurance, most recently at Aviva and Aon. Harry Risby also joined the Financial Institutions team as an underwriter in February 2026. Risby brings eight years of underwriting experience from roles at CNA Hardy, Antares and Compass Underwriting.
Edgley added: “Financial Institutions is a key area of growth, and we continue to bolster our team with strong industry specialisation. Our strengthened Financial Institutions team offer tailored fiduciary and professional lines coverage for a broad range of financial institutions across the globe.”
This continued investment reflects Nexus’s belief that talent acquisition is a fundamental driver of long‑term growth. The team appointments ensure the depth of experience and leadership required to support customers in today’s complex risk environment and accelerate the group’s strategic ambitions.
