TFOIL elects Kishan Mangat as president

Tomorrow’s Forum of Insurance Lawyers (TFOIL), the specialist organisation for junior defendant insurance lawyers, has appointed Kishan Mangat, a solicitor at DWF, as its new president.

Mangat succeeds Mukesh Kainth of Browne Jacobson, who has been president since 2016.

TFOIL was established by the Forum of Insurance Lawyers in 2013 to encourage and enable lawyers with less than five years of post-qualification experience to engage with counterpart organisations in the insurance and loss adjusting sectors.

On becoming TFOIL president, Mangat commented: “I am honoured to be TFOIL’s new president and look forward to using this role to promote the interests of young insurance lawyers and to provide them a voice on key issues, such as innovation in the insurance sector, gender equality and greater diversity.”

“I look forward to utilising the opportunity to carry on the great work of Mukesh, and my predecessors, in encouraging the training and development of TFOIL’s membership–whilst helping them establish solid foundations for successful careers as insurance lawyers.”

Mangat’s expertise lies in representing insurers on a variety of catastrophic injury claims, covering road traffic accidents, public and employer’s liability, and product liability claims.

She has also worked on international cross-border claims, dealing with jurisdiction and applicable law issues.

FOIL chief executive Laurence Besemer said: “It is a pleasure to see Kishan take the reins as president of TFOIL. Her unique experience will enable her to bring a lot to the role, working closely with the rest of the TFOIL committee.”

“It is fantastic to see the continued growth of TFOIL and the encouragement it gives young lawyers and their firms to forge professional relationships that will last for many years to come.”
