Marsh appoints John Walsh as lead for corporates in Leeds

Marsh has appointed John Walsh as head of its Leeds office, giving the former UK and Ireland claims leader responsibility for corporate clients across Yorkshire.

Marsh’s corporate division provides insurance broking, risk advisory and claims services across the country. In his new role, Walsh will report to Allan McPherson, regional managing director for North England and Scotland.

Walsh joined Marsh in January 2014 and was previously based in Manchester as UK and Ireland claims leader for the corporate division.

He has worked in the commercial insurance industry for more than 25 years in various underwriting, claims and broking roles, starting with Sun Alliance (now RSA) in 1994 and then spending a significant part of his career with AXA and Ecclesiastical.

Commenting on Walsh’s appointment, McPherson said: “With his extensive background in claims, together with his regional business insight, John is well suited to lead Marsh’s Leeds office and deliver the best of the firm to our corporate clients across Yorkshire.”

Walsh added: “Leeds has a thriving business community and hosts a diverse range of organisations—from small local start-ups to international firms. All face an increasingly complex array of risks that stem from wider economic, geopolitical and technological pressures. I’m excited to take the helm of Marsh’s office in Leeds and deliver solutions that enable our clients to manage the risks they face, protect their assets, and continue to thrive.”

Marsh recently appointed Mark Mansfield as head of the Manchester office, giving him similar responsibility over corporate clients in the Northwest.
