Natalie Cosgrove and Amelia Dale have joined the medical negligence team at Ashtons Legal.
Cosgrove and Dale arrive as a partner and a paralegal, respectively. Both will principally be based in Yorkshire and will work with the team at Ashtons Legal office in Bury St Edmunds when required.
A specialist in baby loss and birth injury claims, Cosgrove has worked with many families in Nottingham whose maternity services are currently being reviewed by Donna Ockenden, esteemed midwife and community activist.
She also has a specialist interest in more nuanced areas of law, including secondary victims, assault and battery, involuntary participants, and suicide resulting from negligent mental health care.
Cosgrove’s support for those who have suffered injury goes well beyond her day job. She holds various roles at Sheffield Mencap and Gateway, the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers, Sheffield University Law School’s advisory board and Access to Justice Foundation Yorkshire.
She is also president of the Yorkshire Union of Law Societies, the umbrella organisation for all local law societies in the region.
Dale has worked alongside Cosgrove for the past five years and she too has a strong track record in medical negligence work.
Sharon Allison, who leads the Ashtons Medical negligence team, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Natalie and Amelia to the team. They both clearly share our ethos of always doing the best for the client, whatever their injury or circumstances. The strength and depth that these appointments brings to the team will help to further enhance our first class offering to our clients who have experienced significant trauma.”
Allison added: “Bringing a third partner and a new paralegal into the team will enable us to continue to expand the number of medically and catastrophically injured people we are able to help each year and to further our work in campaigning for improved patient safety.”
Ashtons now has a team of 22 people focusing on assisting clients who wish to bring a clinical negligence claim. The team works on a national basis, having clients based all over the country.
