Jane Kielty, chief commercial officer at Aon, will become deputy chair of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) on 1 January 2023.
The main board of BIBA is largely formed of members who serve for a maximum term of six years and simultaneously as chair of one of the association’s advisory boards.
Kielty (pictured has been on the board since becoming chair of BIBA’s Insurance Brokers’ Standards Committee in 2020 and takes over from Laura Hancock, director of Yutree, who has been a BIBA board member since 2017 and its deputy chair since 2019.
A great advocate of careers in broking and a former BIBA Young Broker of the Year, Kielty has led the standards committee with “great enthusiasm and purpose during a period of incredible change”—and is determined to support members regardless of their size or sector, according to the association.
She said: “I was honoured to be asked to take up the position of deputy chair. I am as passionate as I ever was about insurance broking, and I hope in my new role I can continue to make a difference to BIBA members. Laura is a tough act to follow but I am looking forward to the challenge.”
BIBA chief executive Steve White added: “We are lucky to have Jane on the board and she brings an enormous amount of experience to the table.
“Laura has made a fantastic contribution in her five years on the board and I am most grateful to her for all her support. This is farewell not goodbye as she will continue to work closely with us as one of our member scheme providers.”
Hancock commented: “I am very proud of what BIBA has achieved over the last five years and I couldn’t be more pleased to have been a key part of it.”
