Show your working out! Insurance claims by the numbers—and words

This is how the insurance claims market can get top marks

It’s not enough to have dozens of amazing reviews from policyholders heaping praise on your insurance claims service, you have to show they were deserved and convince the British Claims Awards judges while you’re at it.

With the British Claims Awards 2023 entry window in full swing, we thought we’d take this opportunity to outline what steps you, the insurance claims market, can take to give yourself the best chance of catching the attention of our independent panel of judges.

Top of the list is evidence

That could be independent research into customer satisfaction with your insurance claims process, the changes you made as a result, and the effects.

As long as you show cause and effect—and the numbers stack up—you’ll be well on your way to impressing our judges.

The criteria for each category are important

Avoid submitting the same entry for a dozen categories—the judges have a big job to do and they need to be excited by something new, not bored by repetition.

While you’re at it, stick to the Q&A format—this structure will keep your entry clear, concise and memorable.

Know your audience

Get to know the judges, research their background and find out what type of insurance claims work might impress them. Similarly, look at previous awards to see who has won before.

Look at your competitors, see what they do well and where you stand in relation to them. Are you demonstrably better? Use what’s out there as the benchmark and show the judges why your offering is superior.

At the time, use this process as valuable feedback for your business and identify where you need to make improvements.

The first draft is actually the zero draft

Good writing is the foundation of a compelling entry (even a video!) and it’s never going to be perfect on the first draft. It takes multiple edits and a redrafting process, preferably with every stakeholder involved.

By following these steps, you will give yourself the best chance of being shortlisted and winning an award.
