RSA Insurance has appointed Gary Mason to the role of COO delivery director.
In this role, Mason, who has significant insurance IT experience gained from his time at IBM, Allianz and more recently Aviva, will lead technology upgrades to the insurer’s operating and claims capabilities.
This work will include implementation of RSA’s new cloud-based Guidewire ClaimCenter as its new claims management system, which aims to deliver a simpler, more personal claims experience for customers.
Mason will report into Oliver Holden, chief information officer at RSA UK and Ireland, and will replace Richard Thompson, who is leaving the insurer after 12 years to move to the US.
Holden commented: “With customer expectations continuing to evolve, the customer experience has increased in its importance as a competitive differentiator in our industry. That’s why tech and data are central to our outperformance business strategy and our ambition to provide more tailored insurance solutions that better meet our customers’ needs.
“I’m delighted to welcome Gary to the team. His in-depth experience of leading multi-year transformation change programmes, combined with his knowledge of successful Guidewire implementation, will be a real asset to our team.
“I also want to wish Richard Thompson the best of luck for the next exciting chapter in his journey, and I’m certain that he’ll continue to be a huge success in whatever he does.”
The appointment Mason follows news that RSA is leaving the personal lines motor market in the UK.
RSA will focus on home and pet insurance, aiming to grow the direct business that it does while managing partnerships for value.
