Medical negligence and personal injury business Fletchers Group has appointed Kate Edwards as its director of private client and Court of Protection.
Edwards (pictured), who joins Fletchers from Simpson Millar, will oversee the group’s work on behalf of clients who lack the mental capacity to make decisions about life planning and financial management due to a serious injury or medical negligence.
Reporting to Fletchers chief legal officer Adrian Denson, Edwards will manage a team of 13 and has a brief to transform the group’s private client and Court of Protection team, boosting its performance to match the medical negligence and personal injury divisions.
Commenting on her new role, Edwards said: “Following a number of acquisitions within the group, in particular Leeds-based Minton Morrill last year, my immediate task is to knit the private client and Court of Protection function into a cohesive whole and position it for accelerated growth.
“I am aiming to double the earnings of the team within the next two years, and scale up through a combination of organic and inorganic growth.”
Edwards added: “I have inherited an excellent pipeline of work, as well as a team of dedicated and enthusiastic people, and by uniting under a single management structure, I am confident we can deliver the same outperformance that we’ve seen in the medical negligence and personal injury teams.”
Denson said: “I’m delighted to welcome Kate to the group. She is a high calibre individual with an impressive track record and it’s a testament to our growing reputation that we’re able to attract her to the business.
“Kate will play a key role in transforming the division, accelerating growth in this critical element within our overall proposition, and providing our clients with more choice.”
