Michael Ledgerton joins McLarens as senior major loss specialist

McLarens has expanded its UK and Ireland major loss team with the appointment of Michael Ledgerton. Michael is a senior major loss specialist who joins from a large UK adjuster where he was head of major loss.

The appointment will strengthen McLarens’ capability at a regional level. Based in Manchester, Michael brings considerable multi-sector experience around complex and major losses, across industries including including real estate, retail, hospitality, food and drink, waste recycling and housing associations.

His adjusting career began with McLarens in 1991 after two years in the claims department of Legal and General in Manchester. In 2002, he moved to Ashworth Mairs, before joining Cunningham Lindsey in 2005, becoming part of the complex and major loss team in 2009. After a brief stint at Woodgate & Clark from 2014 to 2015, he then joined QuestGates where he led the commercial major and complex loss team for eight years.

Michael has dealt with several high-profile incidents including the Manchester IRA bomb (1996), Oldham race riots (2001), Manchester riots 2011, and UK floods (including Carlisle 2005, Sheffield/Hull 2007 and Cumbria 2009 & 2015).

He serves on the committee of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) Property Special Interest Group and is also an examiner for CILA.

McLarens is focused on delivering technical claims services to complex, commercial and speciality markets.

Darren Anderton, head of major loss, north, at McLarens commented:

“Michael is a seasoned major loss specialist and an excellent technical adjuster. We’ve made a strategic decision to expand our major loss proposition in recent years and we’re seeing continued growth and market demand as a direct result. Complex, technical loss adjusting has always been central to what we do and it’s great to have someone of Michael’s calibre joining the team.”
