Specialty MGA UK strengthens construction and energy team with senior hire 

Sam Hui joins Specialty MGA, boosting its construction expertise. 

Specialty MGA UK, the managing general agent known for delivering extra capacity in specialty insurance lines, has bolstered its construction expertise with the appointment of Sam Hui as senior underwriter for onshore construction and energy.  

Hui brings over three decades of experience in insurance and reinsurance, specialising in construction and energy underwriting. His career began in marine insurance, and he has since built a reputation as a leading figure in the international market. Prior to joining Specialty MGA UK, Hui held a prominent position at Advent Syndicate 780, where he was instrumental in supporting clients globally, drawing on his extensive network of brokers, insurers, and agents. 

Manoj Kumar, group chairman of specialty MGA UK, expressed his enthusiasm for the new hire, commenting, “With the construction sector on track for sustained growth in 2025, I am delighted to be adding Sam to our team. Sam brings extensive experience of these international markets as well as deep technical expertise, greatly benefiting our MGA as we continue our expansion and growth in this important line of business.” 

In his new role, Hui will oversee the onshore construction sector, including single-project and annual facilities for owners, project sponsors, and contractors. his remit will also cover machinery breakdown and mining plant and equipment. Hui will also lead the Upstream Energy account, expanding Specialty MGA’s energy portfolio and contributing to the company’s ongoing efforts to introduce innovative solutions and additional capacity to its clients.
