6% of UK motorists, more than 1.7 million drivers, would consider making a claim for personal injury after a road accident, even if they knew they were not badly hurt, according to research
carried out by Go Compare.
The online comparison site also found that two thirds of people believe that people making claims for minor injuries were pushing up the costs if insurance. However, about the same number also said that personal injury lawyers should be allowed to text or cold call people regarding their services.
63% of respondents agreed that it was fine for people to try and get compensation if they have been seriously injured in an accident which wasn’t their fault, particularly if it caused them to miss work or directly affected their life.
4% of those surveyed felt that people should do whatever they can to get money out of insurers.
