Germans set up new PI Allianz

Allianz has been granted a licence by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to establish an alternative business structure, which will be called ALP Law.

The German insurer, which has worldwide operations, has set up a partnership with Serious Law through the ABS licence.

With the licence effective from 17 March, ALP Law will be able to provide personal injury legal advice to Allianz’s direct private motor policyholders, following an accident.

The insurer said that it had chosen Serious Law, which specialises in catastrophic personal injury claims, due to its ” excellent reputation for providing customers with outstanding service, combined with its proven experience and technical expertise”.

James Barclay, head of legal protection claims, at Allianz said that the new structure introduced through ALP Law would ensure that Allianz customers with a genuine need for legal support received the highest possible level of service and would take away layers of costs to the legal claims process.

“Customers will be provided with timely, expert support from lawyers at what can be a worrying and stressful time,” he said. “They can also be confident in the knowledge that there are no hidden costs, so they will be awarded 100% of their damages if ALP Law handles their injury claim.”

The SRA has told Allianz that the branding for ALP Law has to be different enough from the group’s own logo so that it can be viewed as a separate business.
