Capita buys Eclipse Legal Systems

Capita has announced that it has acquired Eclipse Legal Systems, the case management software provider.

The deal, which has been made for an undisclosed sum, will see Capita take ownership of a business that provides software solutions for over 20,000 legal professionals in the UK.

Eclipse’s core software integrates file management, document management, workflow, reporting, accounting, time recording, task and diary functions into a single desktop tool. The company has 150 employees and is based in Bradford.

Sean Massey, the managing director at Capita Justice and Technology Solutions, said that the acquisition of Eclipse was the second private sector software provider that Capita has bought in the last four months.

“Capita is looking forward to working with the experienced and dedicated team in Bradford, supporting Eclipse’s continued growth and developing innovative software and solutions that will meet the challenges its customers face,” he said.

Steve Ough, the founder and Chief Software Architect at Eclipse, said that the takeover would allow Eclipse to build on its success as it looks towards further expansion.
