Slater & Gordon has moved into the East Midlands after hiring the entire claimant personal injury and clinical negligence team from Derby-based firm Flint Bishop.
As part of the deal, Slater & Gordon has also inherited the Injured Patient Claims brand, which Flint Bishop has used to promote its clinical negligence services.
Legal Futures had reported that Neil Kinsella, head of Slater & Gordon UK, said that the acquisition would help form a basis for the firm’s growth in the East Midlands.
Last month the Australian firm announced that it had made £100m for its last financial year in the UK (an 8% rise from the year before) and said that it expected to acquire further new businesses in the coming 12 months. PI work currently accounts for 77% of Slater & Gordon’s UK business.
The firm has also said that present stable regulatory environment had provided it with further openings in the PI market, with its main target being multi-track/serious injury work.
