DWF announces round of redundancies in its claims division

DWF has revealed that it is planning to make 26 redundancies from its defendant claims division at its Liverpool office.

The Law Society Gazette has reported that 15 secretary roles, six solicitors, four paralegals and one analyst will all be leaving the division. Some of the staff will be allocated new roles within the firm.

Managing partner and chief executive Andrew Leaitherland said that all insurance law firms had witnessed a decline in the number of motor fraud instructions since the implementation of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders (LASPO) Act last year.

He explained the round of redundancies by saying that centralisation and new IT systems had allowed the firm to develop further efficiencies, meaning that DWF was not so reliant on administrative support.

DWF confirmed that it was trying to help staff affected to find alternative jobs through a series of workshops.
