MedCo reveals MRO suspensions and warnings

MedCo has already suspended 21 tier 2 MROs for not providing a bond and issued warnings to a further three MROs, three firms and one medical expert for breaching the MedCo user agreement.

The disclosure, published by Legal Futures, has also revealed that the majority of suspended MROs have since paid their £20,000 bonds and returned onto the portal, while only one of the warned organisations has failed to change its behaviour and adhere to MedCo’s rules.

Legal Futures has also reported that decisions on whether registered MROs meet the criteria to be in either tier 1 or tier 2 are to be made later this month.

A spokesman for MedCo also said that the portal had physically audited all tier 1 MROs and that its audit committee was drafting the resulting reports and recommendations for the MedCo board.

“All operational tier 2s have also been requested to provide evidence that they meet six key criteria,” he added.
