Keoghs has completed its acquisition of Hill Dickinson’s highly regarded insurance business group for an undisclosed sum.
The third and final phase of the sale sees 17 partners and 311 staff move to Keoghs, taking the law firm’s headcount to 1,740 across 12 offices.
On top of adding staff and services to its existing offices in London and Manchester, Keoghs has gained a presence in Liverpool, where it now sub-lets premises from Hill Dickinson as part of the transaction.
Over the last 18 months, Keoghs has increased the number of locations out of which it operates, adding London, Southampton, Glasgow and Liverpool to its portfolio.
With the addition of the Hill Dickinson insurance team, Keoghs has also added further specialisms of professional indemnity, abuse and dispute resolution services for major corporates to its range of services to the insurance sector.
“Importantly, the acquisition is a key strategic milestone in Keoghs becoming the pre-eminent provider of claims-related services for the insurance industry, delivered through a unique blend of quality legal advice and handling, innovative services and market-leading technology,” the firm said in a statement.
The sale excludes Hill Dickinson’s marine insurance and clinical negligence work, which has always been undertaken separately.
The sale allows Hill Dickinson to focus on strategic areas of growth in its core business areas of health, marine and commercial and it will continue to operate out of offices in Liverpool, Manchester, London and Leeds, as well as four overseas offices.
