The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) has elected two sector experts to leadership roles and five to its executive committee board.
Solicitor-advocate Gordon Dalyell has become APIL’s 22nd president and Sam Elsby, a consultant solicitor at Dean Wilson, has been appointed to the role of vice president.
Dalyell is a partner at Digby Brown in Edinburgh and is APIL’s first president from Scotland. He said the timing could not be more apt.
The new APIL president, who was appointed yesterday, said: “The nature of the reforms to each of the civil systems within the UK, as well as general challenges to injured people, have distilled into a very similar set of issues.”
“It makes perfect sense that we should work closely together and draw on our experience from each of the jurisdictions to best address these issues.”
Kim Harrison of Slater & Gordon, Neil McKinley from JMP Solicitors, barrister Richard Baker of 7 Bedford Row, Leticia Williams from Hodge Jones and Allen, and Richard Barr from Scott Moncrief and Associates, have been elected to the executive committee board.
