Engineering and consultancy firm Thornton Tomasetti has appointed Tracey Cookson an associate director in its London office to help develop its property loss and forensics platforms in the UK and beyond.
Based in London, Cookson will be responsible for increasing Thornton Tomasetti’s profile with current and new clients who require technical expertise in pre-loss risk analysis, post-loss claims, emergency response and forensic investigations.
The firm’s property loss and forensics teams recently expanded their expertise and service offerings in the UK and international markets with the acquisitions of UK-based technical security and engineering risk management consultants, MFD and MMI.
Consisting of architects, engineers of a range of disciplines, and scientists, Thornton Tomasetti’s property loss and forensics teams lead emergency responses and provide engineering-based analysis and performance assessments of structural and material failures due to natural and man-made hazards.
Serving adjusters, reinsurers, brokers, and underwriters as well as providing litigation support and testimony, the teams have performed investigations of structures in aviation, entertainment, onshore energy, and mining and construction.
Cookson has joined Thornton Tomasetti from Aviva Insurance in London, where she was a senior manager of technical claims services and was responsible for multiple claims teams.
She is experienced in overseeing large and complex construction, engineering, corporate and commercial claims, and has a strong knowledge of both the London and international markets.
Previously, Cookson worked for Suncorp Insurance in Australia, where she managed responses to large disasters, such as the 2008 Queensland storms.
Cookson said: “I look forward to working with such a progressive and innovative organisation that has the ability to offer clients a full range of services across several disciplines anywhere they need us.”
Bruce Arita, senior vice president of property loss and forensics at Thornton Tomasetti, said: “We are thrilled to have Tracey join Thornton Tomasetti. Her superb credentials and breadth of expertise will dovetail with our collaborative team approach to solving client needs as well as our ambitious goals for the future.”
