Wrisk names new CEO

Wrisk has appointed a new chief executive officer as the pay-monthly contents insurance provider eyes the next stage in its growth.

Nimeshh Patel has taken over from Niall Barton, who has moved into the position of executive chairman.

Patel joined Wrisk in January 2018 as chief operating officer, and was an early stage adviser and investor in the insurtech company, which sells pay-monthly contents insurance through a mobile app and is eyeing a move into automotive lines.

Wrisk made the management change in response to “new demands to take the company to the next phase in its journey”.

“Taking this into consideration, Niall felt that the position of CEO should be handed onto someone who has a track record in scaling a technology business,” according to Wrisk.

Patel, who previously led strategy, sales and business operations at Buzzfeed Europe, is well placed to scale the insurtech business, having been an early-stage executive at Drawbridge, a tech startup based in Silicon Valley that was recently acquired by LinkedIn, and as well as chief operating officer at AOL Europe.

In his new role as executive chairman, Barton will focus on strategic initiatives, scaling partnerships and developing international opportunities for Wrisk.

Wrisk is working on the upcoming launches of its partner products with BMW/MINI and the RAC later this year.

In June, the insurtech company signed an agreement with Allianz Automotive to jointly offer new insurance products on the Wrisk platform at the point of sale at the dozens of automotive brands with which the insurer partners.
