Plexus Law appoints new partner in Edinburgh

Plexus Law has appointed Calum Mathieson as a partner in Edinburgh.

Mathieson, who has more than 25 years of experience in dealing with complex and large loss employer, public and product liability claims on behalf of major insurers, Lloyds syndicates and corporate insureds, has joined Plexus Law from Clyde & Co.

He also has extensive experience managing health and safety prosecutions on behalf of corporate insureds.

Mathieson qualified in 1993 and was a partner with Simpson & Marwick before the firm merged with Clyde & Co in 2014.

The new Plexus Law partner is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association, the Forum of Insurance Lawyers and the Law Society of Scotland.

Commenting on his appointment, Mathieson said: “I am excited to be joining a progressive and forward-thinking firm like Plexus, particularly at a time when the firm is expanding and has a number of exciting plans for future development. I very much look forward to my new role and playing my part to help Plexus go from strength to strength.”

Cameron McNaught, partner and head of Plexus Law’s Edinburgh office, said: “A very warm welcome to Calum from everyone at Plexus. We are thrilled to have attracted a Partner of his calibre to the firm. Calum’s arrival will further strengthen our service offering in Scotland and he is a most welcome addition to the team.”

Earlier this year, Plexus Law secured the services of a team of 17 lawyers and 10 support staff from Kennedys.

The hires are based in new offices in Taunton and Chelmsford, expanding Plexus Law’s network in the Southwest and Southeast.

Their arrival followed the £15million private equity investment in the law firm and the appointment of former Kennedys global finance director Fiona Scott as chief executive officer.
