MSL appoints head of claims operations

Cheadle-based motor claims management specialist MSL has appointed Alan Brown as head of claims operations.

Brown previously worked at AIG as credit hire manager and as motor claims team manager.

He spent 11 years at Kindertons Accident Management where he began his career in claims handling, and progressed through the business in a number of claims management roles before joining AIG in 2017.

Brown began his new role at MSL in early January and reports to managing director Glen Eastwood.

In his new role, Brown is responsible for enhancing the day-to-day operations of the claims business, which handles the whole of a claim, from first notification of loss through to settlement.

The appointment of Brown follows a prolonged period of growth for MSL, which struck a number of significant deals in 2019, including with South Wales-based insurance broker Watkin Davies Insurance Consultants and motorcycle insurance provider Bike Devil.

Eastwood said: “MSL, part of the Drive Further collective, is a family-owned business with a strong focus on customer service. Alan’s role in ensuring a seamless claims journey for our customers is critical, and I am delighted he has joined us to help build on the substantial growth we have achieved during the last 18 months.”

“He [Brown] is a highly experienced claims professional, having held senior roles with insurers as well as on the supply side, so he understands what our insurer clients require from their claims service provider.”

Eastwood continued: “MSL works in partnership with MGAs, insures, brokers and self-insured businesses, all of whom rightly demand market-leading claims services. Our niche and specialist segments, such as taxi and driving instructors, are especially vulnerable to their vehicles being off the road, so Alan has a vital role in making sure these customers are back in the driving seat, earning their living, as quickly as possible.”

Commenting on his appointment, Brown said: “MSL is a fantastic business and, following recent growth, is poised to benefit from the raft of recent reforms in claims. It has invested in new technology and expanded the range of services it offers clients, and I am seriously excited by the opportunity to work alongside Glen and the team to make MSL a leading claims and legal expenses player for the 2020s.”
