The Medical Protection Society (MPS) has appointed Geoff Jones as executive director of its member protection and support division.
The division is at the forefront of protecting the careers, reputation and financial security of healthcare professionals, and Jones will be responsible for delivering a first-class service to MPS members across claims, cases, advisory and legal services—heading up a multi-disciplinary team of experts.
Jones started his career at Weightmans as a defendant personal injury lawyer acting for a range of insurers and public organisations.
For the last 10 years, he has worked for RSA Insurance, where he held many senior positions, including chief claims officer for Ireland, commercial claims director for the UK and Europe, and director of specialty and wholesale.
In addition to being a lawyer, Jones has extensive experience of working in a regulatory environment leading large claims operations, multi-disciplinary teams, and more recently, running RSA’s London market specialty and wholesale business, which, together with his team, he returned to profitability.
Commenting on his appointment at MPS, Jones said: “I am delighted to be joining a business with such expertise, and whose people do great things each day to enable the delivery of healthcare—this is an exciting prospect for me.”
