QBE Re appoints head of claims

QBE Re has appointed Debbi Wood to the role of head of claims.

Wood has been with QBE for almost 20 years. In that time, she has held several roles across its claims function, most recently claims manager for financial and specialty markets, dealing with complex claims.

She will take up her new role in April and report to Mike East, claims director at QBE Europe.

She will also become a member of the European claims executive leadership team and QBE Re’s senior leadership.

Chris Killourhy, managing director at QBE Re, said: “I am delighted Debbi will be leading QBE Re’s claims team as we continue to deliver our goal of sustainable growth and building long-term relationships with our customers.”

East said: “This appointment is another great example of the internal talent we have within QBE. Debbi’s depth of experience of claims will continue to further enhance our customer value proposition.”

Fiona Sperry, head of complex claims, will act as interim claims manager for financial and specialty markets in addition to her current role while recruitment is ongoing.
