Sedgwick launches legal services business

Sedgwick has launched a new business to support the claims handling services it already provides to the national insurance and corporate markets.

A separate entity within Sedgwick, authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Sedgwick Legal Services will focus on first-party property claims and recoveries, with plans to expand into casualty, motor and other specialist lines.

Partners Paul Squires and John Hinton (pictured), who are both seasoned litigators and trusted advisers to clients in the insurance sector, will lead the new business.

Paul White, UK chief executive officer at Sedgwick, commented: “We are delighted to welcome John and Paul to Sedgwick and look forward to delivering truly end-to-end recovery solutions to the UK market.

“Both will be actively involved throughout the claim lifecycle—from first notification of loss through to litigation.”

On the launch of Sedgwick Legal Services, White said: “The addition of legal services to our robust claims-handling offerings will mean we can provide more efficient and cost-effective solutions for our clients and their customers. Bringing this specialty in-house considerably enhances our recovery proposition for property claims.”

Hinton said: “We have a clear vision of how to deliver improved results against the traditional legal services model.

“Our team of lawyers and paralegals are able to leverage Sedgwick’s wider claims management expertise and digital capability to provide a high-quality, consistent and simpler service for our clients.”
