Specialty MGA UK appoints new senior underwriter for energy

Specialty MGA UK, a recently established managing general agent, has announced the appointment of Dermot Dick as senior underwriter for energy. 

Dermot Dick is a distinguished figure in the reinsurance and insurance underwriting industry, with a career spanning over four decades. With extensive expertise in underwriting risks related to marine, power, energy, and renewables sectors, his appointment brings a wealth of knowledge to Specialty MGA UK.  

Dick’s previous experience includes a tenure at Oneglobal Broking and a significant portion of his career spent in prominent locations such as London, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. 

In the Middle East, Dick played a pivotal role in launching start-ups at Q-Re and Emirates International, successfully establishing them as respected entities in the market. His appointment to Specialty MGA UK is seen as a significant asset to the company’s expanding global presence. 

Dick brings with him an extensive network of brokers, agents, and insurers, having conducted business across various countries and regions during his career, including Africa, Asia, MENA, and North America. Specialty MGA UK specialises in providing additional capacity for specialty lines of businesses, has taken a significant step forward in its global expansion strategy.

In his role as Senior Underwriter at Specialty MGA UK, Dick will be responsible for overseeing the development of the Energy team, enhancing its underwriting capacity, and further expanding its global presence.
