Prioritising customer peace of mind in the face of RAAC risks

In the face of a potential crisis involving Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC), AXA Commercial has demonstrated a commitment to their customers’ wellbeing by developing cutting-edge AI technology which assists in identifying affected buildings.

The task was substantial, 70,000 documents were required to reviewed for any mention of RAAC. Manually, this task would have taken at least a year. However, with AXA’s AI technology, the at risk buoidings were able to be identified within just a few hours.

Out of 65 potential cases, a review confirmed 4 affected buildings. The entire process was completed within one week, providing AXA’s customers with the reassurance they needed.

RAAC, a lightweight concrete used from the 1950s to the mid-1990s, is known for its weaknesses compared to standard concrete. Over 100 schools in England and Wales had to close buildings due to RAAC concerns.

Dougie Barnett, Director of customer risk management at AXA Commercial, emphasised the importance of swift action, stating, “Speed was of the essence – our customers were concerned about their buildings, and we were able to provide reassurance about which ones were at risk.”

In a time where technology shapes how we address challenges, AXA Commercial stands at the forefront of innovation. Their dedication ensures the safety and security of the buildings entrusted to them.

Customers have been shown that AXA are not merely an insurance provider but are committed to their security and peace of mind.
