Brawdia launches private clients and estates proposition

Brawdia, the insurance-focused building and projects consultancy, has announced the launch of its private clients and estates proposition. The company, active in the high net worth (HNW) market since its inception in 2021, aims to strengthen its offering through strategic hires and consolidation of resources.

A strategic push in the HNW market

The private clients and estates team, led by James Featherstone, will cater to clients in the HNW, agriculture, farming, rural estates, and related sectors. The team provides a range of services, including expert witness, insurance management reinstatement, party wall services, technical due diligence, reinstatement costs assessments (RCA), defect surveys (including subsidence), and building project management.

Integrating HNW and heritage expertise

The new proposition brings together Brawdia’s HNW services with its specialist heritage division. This division, led by Tony Rellis, focuses on listed buildings and historic properties. Their services include building surveys, building pathology reports, specification of repairs, project management, and insurance claims for historic and listed structures.

Lucy Warren, a chartered building surveyor with eight years of experience, joins the team. Lucy has previously worked with a large surveying house, English Heritage, and Clifton Diocese, enhancing her heritage expertise.

Brawdia’s growth and expertise

Since its launch in 2021, Brawdia has built a diverse team of specialist chartered surveyors. They serve insurance, commercial, and local authority clients. The consultancy has developed specialist services across building surveying and project management, with growth areas including resilience and sustainability, HNW, and RCA.

Strengthening HNW and heritage services

Philip Barmby, managing director at Brawdia, stated, “Three years after the London floods, which were the first major surge events for our team following Brawdia’s launch just months earlier, we’re delighted to formalise our offering to the private clients and estates market. The HNW insurance sector demands best-in-class service, and we have significant expertise and experience. We’re regularly working with many of the UK’s largest insurers on HNW and heritage claims, we have a breadth of expertise and, crucially, we understand the nuances of the sector and the policy specifics. It’s an area we know well and we aim to be the ‘go-to’ property consultants for HNW claims.”

James Featherstone, associate director at Brawdia, highlighted the challenges faced by HNW insurers: “HNW insurers face a number of challenges when it comes to dealing with property loss, repair, and remediation. Values have risen significantly in recent years, off the back of inflation and supply chain pressures. Weather-related risk continues to impact, and claims are costly. Moreover, policyholders have high expectations. This means that insurers and claims professionals require not just the technical expertise but property services that are timely, cost-effective, and focused on excellent service.”
