Trevor Ward emphasised the significance of the event in light of recent findings from the national birth trauma inquiry, which highlighted ongoing issues in maternity care:

“We, as legal professionals, have a duty to reasonably maximise the valuation of these lifelong injuries,” Ward explained. “The conference will explore how we can better compensate families for the tragic events they endure while ensuring justice is served. With insights from leading experts, we aim to improve both access to justice and the quality of legal outcomes for those who seek our support.”
