Thompsons Solicitors Partner with Headway Devon to Support People with Brain Injuries

Thompsons Solicitors have announced a new partnership with Headway Devon, the charity providing vital services for people living with brain injuries across the county.

Every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a brain injury, yet many do not receive the rehabilitation they need.

With support from Thompsons, the MAPS Benevolent Trust, and the Players of the Postcode Lottery, Headway Devon will now be able to provide patients in the region with access to a Clinical Lead Neuro-Occupational Therapist — offering specialist support both at the hospital bedside and during their recovery at home.

Ruth Wells, CEO at Headway Devon, said: “We want to be there for people at the bedside. We know that those who get the best support early on have the best outcomes. We are proud to be able to offer patients access to a Neuro-Occupational Therapist and support them through their recovery.

“We are grateful to Thompsons Solicitors and MAPS Benevolent Trust for their assistance and contribution which has enabled this additional support for brain injured patients.”

Lisa Gunner, Solicitor and Partner at Thompsons, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Headway Devon. We understand the devastating impact that a brain injury has on someone, and their loved ones. We recognise the importance of implementing early rehabilitation, financial security and a robust package of care and support.

“It is a privilege to be working alongside Headway Devon to enable their patients to access optimal support following a brain injury.”

David Stothard, Managing Director of MAPS, added: “MAPS Benevolent Trust are delighted to be able to contribute to the provision of this very important initiative which we are sure will improve outcomes for all those who are able to use the service.”

This new funding means Headway Devon can now employ a Band 7 Clinical Lead Neuro-Occupational Therapist to provide expert bedside support, ensure patients and their families have access to the services they need, and help plan effective recovery from day one.
