Slater & Gordon has acquired Fentons Solicitors as it continues to expand in the UK.

The Australian behemoth has recently bought out the personal injury practice at Taylors Vinters and is due to finalise and complete a deal for Goodmans at the end of the month.

Slater & Gordon’s operations in the UK will grow by approximately 280 staff due to the takeover and Neil Kinsella, head of UK for the firm, said that the firm was now in a good position to become one of the UK's leading consumer law firms.

“This is an exciting time for Slater & Gordon as we move towards being able to bring our legal services and expertise to more people. The expansion of our personal injury team will significantly increase the number of people that we are able to help secure compensation for their injuries and help them get back on their feet,” said Kinsella.

Fentons said that the two firms had much in common, with both organisations having forged reputations in fighting for justice for the victims of industrial disease, workplace accidents, and clinical negligence.

Fentons partners unanimously agreed that the combination of the firm's UK experience and Slater & Gordon’s experience of class actions, employment work, and consumer rights litigation would open up many new opportunities.

“Today is a historic day for Fentons Solicitors and we are delighted to confirm that we have agreed to join Slater & Gordon and form one of the largest claimant law firms nationally,” said Kieran Maguire, Fentons Solicitors' senior partner.
