Crawford & Company, the US claims management company, has been granted an alternative business structure (ABS) licence.
The company says that being an ABS – under the name Crawford Legal Services – will allow it to provide a “more integrated claims and legal capability”.
“Brokers, insurers and corporate clients from across Crawford & Company have frequently called for a more expansive claims solution that encompasses legal support at the appropriate stage,” said Jason Spencer, managing director of Crawford Legal Services.
“We have spent a long time developing a sustainable business model, and we look forward to unveiling the Crawford Legal Services brand to the industry.
Spencer also said that the ABS offering, supported by Crawford’s UK infrastructure, would create an unrivalled offering without losing the quality and value of an independent legal practice.
Clive Nicholls, Crawford & Company CEO, UK & Ireland, said: “This is an exciting new chapter in the development of our business, afforded by legislation that allows Crawford to own its own law firm.
“Our core legal services will span everything from litigation and technical support in handling niche, complex or high value claims, to all aspects of volume motor and transport claims, liability, and property claims.”
