Horwich Farrelly has promoted credit hire specialist Gary Herring from associate to partner.
A specialist in credit hire claims for over ten years and widely regarded as a market leader for strategic and technical advice in this area, the firm has said that Herring’s appointment further strengthens its relationship with key insurers across the industry.
Cardiff-based Herring has handled a number of notable cases during his career including, in March this year, the landmark Court of Appeal case of Clayton v EUI, which represented a significant success for defendants on the issue of recoverable hire rates. He has also designed and implemented a number of strategic litigation initiatives, resulting in bulk discontinuances and direct savings of over £400,000 in a single day. Another initiative saw 34 out of 41 claims against one credit hire organisation discontinued, dismissed or struck out with overall savings of 93%.
Ronan McCann, partner and head of business development at Horwich Farrelly, said: “Since joining Horwich Farrelly in March 2014, Gary has been instrumental in strengthening our growing credit hire capabilities and reputation from our Cardiff branch, and in particular our relationships with key insurer clients.
“This well-deserved promotion reflects Gary’s expertise, and will see him continue to work closely with fellow credit hire partners, Max Withington and Darren Mendel, to reconfirm our commitment to growing Horwich Farrelly’s market leading credit hire offering.
