Co-op records rise in motor collision claims

Co-op Insurance saw a 50% increase in motor collision claims on 10 December.

Accidents and collisions also increased by 42% when compared to the previous Sunday (3 December).

The claims data was revealed as the Met Office issued several weather warnings and advised that there would be icy patches on untreated roads and cycle paths.

Nick Ansley, head of motor insurance at the Co-op, commented: “On Sunday we saw a 50% increase in the number of claims reported due to road incidents in comparison to last Sunday.”

“As this cold and icy weather is set to continue we’re urging drivers to take extra care by allowing additional time for journeys and checking car lights and tyres before setting off.”
