Amanda Blanc joins Trov as senior adviser

Former Zurich executive Amanda Blanc has joined the advisory board of insurtech Trov.

Blanc, who stepped down from her role as chief executive officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and global banking partnerships at Zurich in the summer, will provide advice to Trov’s enterprise applications and mobility insurance business units, with a focus on strategy, partnerships and expansion opportunities.

Blanc has accepted several appointments since leaving Zurich. She was recently appointed to the boards of directors of Aviva Insurance and specialty auto insurer ERS, where she’s set to become its chairperson in 2020.

She joined Zurich in 2018 from AXA Group, following spells at Towergate Insurance Brokers, Groupama Insurance Company, Ernst & Young and Aviva.

Last year, Blanc became the first woman to chair the Association of British Insurers since the trade group started out more than a century ago, although she stepped down following her departure from Zurich.

Commenting on Blanc’s appointment, Scott Walchek, chief executive officer and founder of Trov, wrote in a blog post: “Amanda possesses a contagious enthusiasm that’s inspiring, a deep intellect steeped in experience, and she’s an empathetic, present listener who’s at once approachable and engaging; I’m genuinely looking forward to our collaboration.”

The arrival of Blanc follows the launch of Trov’s first white-label insurance product under its partnership with Lloyds Banking Group.

The end-to-end digital renters insurance application utilises Trov’s technology to enable renters to activate the base home coverage as a monthly subscription and easily turn protection on or off for individual items, from a connected device and without any agent involvement.
