Sedgwick has opened a new power and energy subsidiary in the UK, led by David Ward.
The division will concentrate on claims affecting the energy and power sectors.
It will be equipped to handle new claims trends in the renewables industry as well as traditional power plant, infrastructure, and oil and gas suppliers. These include hydrogen power, biofuels, hydroelectricity, and wind and solar energy.
Sedgwick said the launch comes at a time of unprecedented transformation for the power and energy sectors, with the US Inflation Reduction Act and similar initiatives in the EU and UK incentivising massive investment in green energy initiatives in the UK and across the EU.
Using the combined resources of Sedgwick’s forensic accounting services, home foreign and construction solutions, and EFI Global’s engineering division, the new team is ideally positioned to provide a comprehensive range of services to assist power and energy firms in navigating emerging trends and the new operating environment.
As head of power and energy, Ward will oversee the division. He brings more than 30 years of experience in loss adjusting, energy, and construction.
Ward will lead a team of experts from across Sedgwick who cover a wide range of power and energy verticals.
Commenting on his appointment, Ward said: “Things are changing rapidly in the power and energy sectors around the world, and firms are increasingly in need of expertise in a variety of new areas.
“Leading a new operation that brings together the knowledge and support of the wider Sedgwick offering distinguishes us as a serious contender in the power and energy market.”
Paul White, Sedgwick chief executive officer for the UK and the rest of international, added: “Given our significant experience handling claims across the power and energy sectors, consolidating our vast expertise into a unified offering was a clear next step.
“David’s extensive experience made him an ideal choice to lead and scale the team, and his cross-sector knowledge will be invaluable as we establish ourselves as the partner of choice for all types of power and energy clients.”
