RSA launches 2019 broker leader programme

RSA Insurance Group has welcomed 12 new up-and-coming brokers into its 2019 leader programme.

The training course is now in its fifth year and is accredited by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

The intensive seven-month programme enables future leaders from RSA’s key broking partners to take part in management and leadership training, tailored to the general insurance market.

Since its inception in 2015, the programme has welcomed more than 50 brokers, helping to equip them with skills in areas including talent, finance, sales and relationship management, and strategy and business planning.

Every candidate brings a live project from their brokerage, allowing them to apply the skills they learn in real time while being mentored by a senior RSA employee.

The course runs until March 2020, when the brokers will present their business plans for feedback and support from a panel consisting of RSA executives, as well as a sponsor from their own broking firm.

Rob Gibbs (pictured), managing director of commercial lines at RSA, said: “We are delighted to welcome another group of extremely talented individuals on to this year’s Broker Leader Programme.”

“The programme started in 2015 and we are extremely proud of how it has developed and more importantly how it has helped a significant number of brokers progress and advance in their careers. We are committed, more than ever, to maintaining and forging long term relationships with brokers and the programme is one sign of our commitment to this.”

A previous participant on the course, Paul Huntley, who is now head of private clients at Erskine Murray, commented: “The skills and knowledge that I have learnt during the programme with RSA will be invaluable as I progress my career and develop as a leader.”

“The Broker Leader Programme is a fantastic course with a great group of other like-minded brokers. Since finishing the course my career has taken a step forwards and the skill set learnt on the course has enabled me to take on additional challenges with confidence. The course is hard work but the support and guidance you receive from RSA is fantastic.”
