Allianz UK appoints chief underwriting officer and chief technical officer for commercial

Allianz UK has announced the appointment of Adam Lloyd as chief underwriting officer and Claire Buck as chief technical officer for its commercial arm, effective from 14 April. These key appointments are part of Allianz’s strategy to further strengthen its commercial division, covering mid corp, fleet, and digital/SME, and are subject to regulatory approval.

The new roles will report to Phuong Ly, who is set to join Allianz UK as the newly appointed managing director of Allianz Commercial on 1 April. These appointments underline Allianz’s commitment to promoting internal talent and encouraging global mobility within the organisation.

Adam Lloyd, who brings over 15 years of underwriting experience with Allianz Australia, has played a pivotal role in shaping the portfolio strategy and underwriting governance. He joins the UK business with a wealth of knowledge in both underwriting and sales, positioning him to continue Allianz’s strong track record in risk assessment and management.

Claire Buck, who has been with Allianz UK for nearly two decades, steps into the newly created role of chief technical officer. Claire’s extensive experience spans across SME/Digital, Underwriting, the Executive Office, and Business Architecture, making her the ideal candidate to drive technical excellence and innovation within Allianz Commercial.

Nick Hobbs, managing director (Interim) of Allianz Commercial UK, said: “Underwriting risk and technical excellence are at the heart of everything we do, so these are crucial roles for our Commercial business. I am confident that Adam and Claire will excel in their new positions. With their experience within Allianz and their extensive expertise in their respective areas, I have no doubt they will contribute to the continued success and innovation of Allianz in the UK insurance sector. We look forward to their contributions under Phuong’s leadership.”
